About Greenacre Studios

What does Greenacre Studios do?

Greenacre Studios is a specialist Jesmonite® studio. We design, prototype, mould, cast and finish bespoke pieces in Jesmonite, from one-off artworks to high-volume contract casting, and we take projects from concept to completion on any scale. We're also approved independent Jesmonite® Consultants.

Where is Greenacre Studios based?

Our purpose-built studio is at Greenacres, Old Churchstoke, Montgomery, Powys SY15 6EL, in the Welsh Marches on the Wales–England border. We're 10 minutes from Jesmonite's headquarters in Bishop's Castle, and close to major transport links.

How much experience does Greenacre Studios have with Jesmonite?

We have nearly two decades of experience creating bespoke projects in Jesmonite®, and we've worked closely with Jesmonite's own team for all of that time.

Who does Greenacre Studios work with?

Our clients range from individuals to large corporations: private and commercial artists, museums, retail outlets, sculptors, interior designers and architects. Past clients and collaborators include P&O Cruises, Saga Cruises, SMC Design, HSBC, Liberty, Nike, Conran, Van Cleef and Arpels, Lee Broom, Faye Toogood and Halima Cassell MBE.

What kind of projects has Greenacre Studios worked on?

Projects include a bronze-finish atrium artwork spanning three decks of Saga's cruise ship Spirit of Discovery, nearly 6,000 pieces of cast wall art for P&O's cruise liner Britannia, a decorative stone-effect feature wall in Jesmonite AC730 for HSBC's UK headquarters in Birmingham, the Remembrance Art Trail at Canary Wharf, and nearly two decades of Jesmonite lighting for Felix Lighting Specialists.

Jesmonite consultancy

What does a Jesmonite consultant do?

As approved independent Jesmonite® Consultants, we help businesses and makers work with Jesmonite themselves. That includes project management, product design and development, on-site team training, troubleshooting Jesmonite production, developing manufacturing methods, and setting up Jesmonite-specific workshop space.

Can you train my team to use Jesmonite?

Yes. We offer on-site team training, with the aim of helping your team work independently.

About Jesmonite

What is Jesmonite?

Jesmonite is a water-based composite material made from two parts: a reactive powder (the dry base) and a solvent-free acrylic resin (the liquid). Once mixed and set, it forms a solid, opaque piece. It's strong, durable and a more eco-friendly alternative to materials like fibreglass, and it can replicate stone, marble and even cast metal. Read more on What is Jesmonite?

Can Jesmonite be used outdoors?

Some Jesmonite products can, others can't. Jesmonite AC730 and Flex Metal Gel Coats are suitable for outdoor use. AC100 is for indoor use only.

What is the difference between Jesmonite AC100 and AC730?

AC100 is the original Jesmonite: an acrylic-modified gypsum with no added aggregates. It's smooth, fast-drying and ideal for fine detail and bold colour, but indoor only. AC730 is cement-based and was created to replicate stone. It works inside and out and can be acid-etched or sand-blasted to reveal its aggregate.

Can Jesmonite look like metal?

Yes. Jesmonite Flex Metal Gel Coats are made with real metal powder in bronze, silver-bronze, copper and brass, and they take a patina like real metal.
