In collaboration with Make Architects and Jesmonite, Greenacre Studios played a key role in creating this striking feature wall at HSBC’s British Headquarters at 1 Centenary Square, Birmingham. The project involved producing a large, decorative stone cladding system for the building’s 200-square-metre reception area. Our studio was tasked with manufacturing these bespoke decorative panels, using Jesmonite AC730.
Jesmonite AC730 was chosen for its fine decorative aggregates, consistent finish and lightweight properties. Its A2-s1, d0 fire classification under EN 13501-1 also ensured it met the installation and safety requirements for a high-profile commercial building. We worked closely with Make Architects to produce sample panels and facilitate the bespoke colour-matching process, ensuring that the feature wall would achieve the exact look HSBC desired.

Once all the panels were completed to our satisfaction, our team travelled to Birmingham to carry out the installation. Space and load-bearing restrictions meant the use of heavy machinery was not possible, however the lightweight nature of the panels allowed us to move them into place physically with the help of a simple pulley system, giving the added benefit of further reducing the project’s carbon footprint.
The finished feature wall now serves as a bold focal point in HSBC’s headquarters, showcasing once more the versatility of Jesmonite and the adaptability of our team when delivering large-scale architectural projects. This project is a testament to the collaborative effort on all sides, and highlights the ability of Jesmonite to meet the complex demands of contemporary architectural design.
